“What About the Dog?”

What About the Dog?’ is a book written by Christine Calabrese that serves as a guide for dog owners to keep a documented record of everything someone would need to know about their dog in the event that they weren’t there to tell them.

I am a huge dog lover to four of my own dogs and usually a foster or two and this is such a handy tool for me! Whenever I am out of town on vacation or for work, I have someone come stay at my house with my dogs. I usually leave a list of medications, snacks, and routine info for my dog but my dog sitters are always left with questions. Whether your sitters are dog people or not, every dog is different and there isn’t a one size fits all guide for their care. This book allows you to keep very detailed record of everything someone would need to know about your dog in case you weren’t around.

The pages detail all sorts of different things. Everything from basic info on your dog (age, breed, etc) to veterinarian information to activity routines to medication and so much more. With my dogs and my experience with all types of dogs, I would think that I am well prepared to dictate this information to someone but this book covers so many things that I wouldn’t have even thought about that would be so important if I weren’t around.

Ideally this book is used as a handbook for your dog sitter when you are out of town but it would also be instrumental for your dog’s care if you were in a fatal accident. My dogs are my babies and I want them to always be taken care of and loved and this book gives me a little extra peace of mind in that area. I would highly recommend every dog owner get a copy of this book and start filling it out. You won’t regret it!
