There has been a lot of chat in the media about mental health lately. This is great but people are now starting to focus too much on this and neglecting their physical health. In order to be fit, healthy, and well you need to focus on both of these as they work best when used together. If you are unsure of how to go about this or where to start then take a look at the article below for helpful tips and inspiration.
Are You Drinking Enough?
One of the first questions you should be asking yourself is if you are drinking enough water throughout the day. There is nothing quite like water so when we say are you drinking enough, it doesn’t mean how many cans of fizzy pop you have had. It can be easy to forget that your body is made up of around 60% water and this is lost through the day by breathing, sweating, and going to the toilet. If you don’t replace this lost water then you could begin to see the effects of dehydration setting in. Ideally, you should be aiming to drink around eight glasses of water a day which is roughly two liters.
What Are You Eating?
Another question to ask yourself and probably one of the most important is what are you eating? You should be enjoying a healthy balanced diet, if not every day then most days of the week. Of course, it is okay to treat yourself to a takeout once in a while but not every day. A healthy balanced diet consists of all the basic food groups and not piling your plate high with the bad things. For instance, if you are having steak, chips, and salad for dinner then the biggest portion should be the salad and not the chips.
How Much Sleep Are You Getting?
Ask yourself how well you sleep at night, if the answer is not great then find out why. Ideally, you should be sleeping for around six to eight hours each night in order to function properly the next day. While you are sleeping your body is busy repairing all the broken bits in your body that you can’t see or may not even know about. If you don’t get enough sleep then this can’t happen and you may find yourself being more irritable and grumpy than normal. If you think the reason is your mattress then look into changing this and getting a new one.
Are You Up To Date With Checkups?
Finally, this one is important as if you miss checkups with your doctors then this could set your health journey back a few steps. If you are managing all the others well then you don’t want this to let you down. Visiting your doctors regularly will help keep an eye on things as illnesses and other conditions can sneak up on you when you least expect it. Be sure to make appointments with your optician and hearing specialist as well. As you age you might find that you need to use glasses or wear hearing aids.
